Foreword
It delights me that Prof Dr Meena Shrivastav has translated my book ' Ramayana : Mahatva ani Vyaktivishesh ' in Hindi as well as in English. Since ages the great epic Ramayana has inspired us. The Valmiki Ramayan cas also be seen as history. Maharshi Valmiki was contemporary of the Shriram Age. He was a witness of all the things that happened during the period of Ramayana.
The Ramayana is our one of the most precious treasures. It is not only a mythical book. I regard it as a school or university that can inculcate good human values among children. Almost all the characters in the Ramayana put great examples before us of their divine and selfless love for one another, their sacrifice for the sake of others. They are the living examples of great human values. Even all the kings in the Ikshwasu Vansh or dynasty were the great examples of a high moral character. The society, the education and the government system at the time of the Ramayana are ideals for us and need more of our attention.
I am sure that the Hindi and the English translation of my book will reach to more people, It will certainly give inspiration and great joy to all the readers. It will help them to understand the Ramayana in today's context. It will be helpful for the people who are not able to follow Marathi. To read and learn something from the great epic like the Ramayana is the need of the hour. We ought to know the fact that such great epics never lose their values. They can still guide us. We can find solutions to our present problems if we study the Ramayana carefully. Dr Meena Shrivastava has taken a great labour while translating my book in HIndi and English. But I am sure that it must have given her a lot of pleasure too as it is her favourite subject. I am sure that Hindi and English translation of my book will be welcomed widely by the devotees of Shriram.
